The Role:

ConsenSys is seeking a superstar People Advisor (HR Advisor / Junior HRBP) to join our People Circle.

This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of setting up the People function for the company in Europe. We have plans to increase the headcount across Europe by at least 100% in the coming months, meaning that this is an incredibly exciting time to join the company and play a pivotal role in its growth and development.

In a newly created role, you will initially be operating as an extremely effective People Ops professional, and you will have a wide and evolving remit as the business continues on its journey of growth.

From working closely with team members and leadership, advising and implementing People policy and procedures in accordance with employment law, to the day to day management of People generalist and admin responsibilities. You will manage the whole employee lifecycle from onboarding new starters - providing contracts and inductions, managing employee files and payroll, building employee relations services, through to offboarding people if they leave.

You’ll act to represent and promote the company values and culture across the business. A role with lots of variety and scope, you will be coordinating company benefit schemes, responsible for payroll duties, performance management support and collaborating on the implementation of a HRIS system, and will encompass ad hoc duties on projects and administration.  This is a very hands-on role - you’ll need to be willing to get stuck in!

This will be a great opportunity for you if you have previously enjoyed operating in a similar role in an ever-changing and fast moving, creative team, perhaps within a ‘start-up’, but definitely in a diverse and multicultural environment.

You will need to call on your innate ability to multitask, be a natural problem solver with the ability to think on your feet and will be able to confidently deal with stakeholders across all levels of seniority across multiple communications channels.


  • You’ll be focussed mostly on our UK teams (at least initially), but you’ll need to collaborate locally and globally with the wider People & Talent Circle
  • Define and manage the employee journey from offer to onboarding - all communications and calculations will need to be at the highest standards of accuracy
  • Work on key projects to improve people communication and employee relations matters
  • Participate in workshops to build a culture of learning
  • Manage logistics and swag items for employee engagement
  • Coordinate team building activities together with the various circles and/or spokes
  • Master all aspects of administration from a people perspective
  • Maintain employee files
  • Maintain the admin of the payroll files in advance of WPS
  • Build relationships with global people, talent and finance circles
  • Continuously role model the behaviours and kindness we uphold as the People and Talent circle
  • Managing visa and sponsorship requests for specialist positions
  • Being a subject matter expert and point of contact around UK employment law, keeping up to date with the latest developments and regulations that could impact the way we work
  • Maintain a high level of industry awareness, understanding the startup, tech, and Ethereum/Blockchain landscape to keep tabs on emerging and transitioning businesses, industry news, competitive analysis, etc.

About you:
  • It’s vital that you have experience working as a full HR generalist, and you’re especially confident with:
    • UK employment law (knowledge of other European law would also be beneficial, but isn’t mandatory)
    • Visas & sponsorship
    • Employee relations
    • Payroll
  • You enjoy building process where there isn’t any, and you’re happy to suggest ideas for improvements (your voice will always be heard here!)
  • You get excited by challenges presented by ambiguous situations, and working together to achieve consensus on tricky decisions
  • You revel in every little detail and nothing gets past your eagle eye - you’ve spotted at least two mistakes in this advert ;)
  • You can also zoom out to understand the bigger picture
  • You love getting your hands dirty and you’re not afraid of admin - no job is too small when it comes to getting things done
  • You’re self-confident, self-motivated and highly-organised with a strong sense of personal accountability - you’ll find no micromanagement here!
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, facilitation and negotiation skills
  • You’re a confident user of one or more of the usual HR systems
  • You’re a confident builder of spreadsheets, word templates, etc.
  • You have a genuine personal interest in new technology, Blockchain, and/or Ethereum

Bonus points (if you have any of these in addition to the above then great, but it’s not a huge issue if not):
  • CIPD (or equivalent) qualification is desirable
  • German or French language skills
  • Experience working with Google Docs
  • Startup or entrepreneurial company experience
  • Previous experience using Workday
