About the Agile Leaders Circle:

The Agile Leaders Circle (ALC), of which this position would be a part, is responsible for enabling Consensys, specifically start-ups within Consensys to Be Agile.
About the role:
In addition to being able to function as a Scrum Master and Agile Coach, the Agile Team Leader is responsible for developing organizational, leadership/management and communication initiatives to produce an effective Agile culture within Consensys Labs.  The aim of these initiatives are to improve the efficacy of Agile practices within your assigned Spokes. Your spokes are to be delivering innovation - innovative business models, products and processes- at speed.

The ideal candidate for this role has a deep understanding of the startup culture and understands the needs of a technology startup. He or she must have an excellent understanding of when and where to implement the Agile practices based on the state of the organization. Your primary duties are to establish and run experiments with teams, collect the data at the end of the experiments, and use this data to establish new methods to continuously improve the functioning of teams. Therefore, the ideal candidate is well experienced in Innovation Accounting concepts and application.

This person also has a high level of emotional intelligence and can coach both individuals and teams to achieve the values of Agile and Decentralized organizations. It is critical that this individual also understands how to navigate between Agile theory and Agile in action - while using the ALC’s top 3 Agile values, teamwork, experimentation and empowerment/ownership, as guidelines for successful outcomes. They must have a keen eye for what blocks a team from reaching their goals and know how to transform their performance through coaching, mentoring and leadership.

Duties
  • Produce top-tier teams through coaching them on the mindset/perspective required for successful Agile teams
  • Foster a trusting and safe environment where problems can be freely discussed and resolved
  • Recognize patterns within startups and within ConsenSys in general, recommend changes follow through to the implementation of these recommendations.
  • Guide/conduct experiments both within the start-up teams and around our Agile training methods
  • Constantly grow your knowledge and passion on how different industries have implemented Agile practices effectively across different types of teams, businesses, and organizations
Required Abilities, Skills and Experience
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Ability to thrive in chaos and ambiguity.
  • Must be able to distill complex ideas into simple understandable terms that engender buy-in and commitment.
  • Needs to possess above average emotional intelligence: emotional self-awareness, positive outlook, emotional self-control, adaptability and empathy, and the ability to use these emotional intelligence skills to inspire teams and stakeholders.
  • Must be able able to determine when to apply various leadership methods as appropriate to the circumstance.
  • Must be adept at a range of leadership styles ranging from command & control to servant leadership to decentralized leadership.
  • Must have a deep understanding of Lean and  Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, lean, scaled agile) - and how to apply them to produce teamwork, creativity and innovation in business models, products and processes, while being able to successfully  modify these practices as necessary to adapt to circumstances without losing the Agile values.

EXPERIENCE
  • 12 + years experience implementing Agile as either a Scrum Master, Agile Coach or Product Owner with software development teams, preferably in a startup environment.
  • Must have a proven track record of successfully implementing and developing Agile teams over the course of their career as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach and/or Product Owner.  
  • Ideal candidate will have additional experience as a Program Manager, Director of Agile Delivery or similar, have lead organizational Agile transformations and/or have developed Agile systems in a start-up incubator.
  • Ability to assess, track, drill-down and question team member activities and processes in all functional areas and make sound organizational decisions based upon evidence.
  • Experience working in a remote-first culture and international work environment.
